After all that waiting the Rio Olympics Sevens has come and, so very quickly, gone. Butif your are suffering from withdrawal symptoms, don’t worry – there is plenty to come in the world of women’s rugby over the next few months.
After claiming a gold medal at the Olympics, Australia have launched new Rugby Sevens pathways that will allow other young Australians to follow in the footsteps of their national team.
New Zealand’s premier domestic competition, the Farah Palmer Cup, kicked off last weekend. Formerly known as the Women’s Provincial Championship it was renamed this year in recognition of one of the most iconic figures in New Zealand women’s rugby.

The Olympic motto is “Citius, Altius, Fortius” – “Faster, Higher, Stronger”, and with the help of Selina at French women’s rugby website Rugby au Feminin we thought we’d look at a rugby 7s equivalent, “youngest, tallest, heaviest”, and how much any of those matter.
The opening round of games produced one "shock", with 7th seed Fiji beating 6th seed United States. Otherwise it has all gone to form, so far, with big wns for the top three seeds.
