Wales part company with Edwards

There has not been an offiical announcement from the WRU but the union responded to our query with the following statement.

"Rhys Edwards has left his role as Head Coach for the Women's National Squad by mutual consent. The WRU thanks Rhys for his commitment to the role and wishes him the best for the future.”

Edwards had been head coach since 2011, leading Wales to eighth place at the 2010 World Cup in France.

Last year he was promoted to become the head coach and elite programme lead, overseeing the sevens side as well as the full senior team. This role saw him take on a new three-day-a-week contract, allowing him to combine his new role with his work as a teacher.
