Street praises the impact of youth

Street praised some of his young players who shone in the mid-week test which gave England a series win with a game to go.

Having made 11 changes to the team who won at Twickenham at the weekend, England dominated game two with a number of their young players shining.

Street said: I thought our back-row were outstanding which is remarkable given they had three caps between them. They were sensational. Alex Matthews(pictured)is a bit of a freak for an 18 year old she has played only around 10 senior games in her career and to go out there and play like she did, taking on the New Zealand pack at times almost by herself, was phenomenal. Marlie Packer and Hannah were also outstanding in the back row.

Street said that the changes England would have made it difficult for New Zealand to know what to expect in the game.

With all of the changes we made I knew that New Zealand wouldnt have known too much about our players, they isnt much footage on lots of those girls and I think they looked a little bit shocked at the pace we played at. They have a great coach but it was probably hard to do too much analysis on us. The mental strength we showed was fantastic and we have some young girls know who have played New Zealand twice and won both of them which will stand to us. Though I wasnt expecting the result to be that conclusive, there was a real sense since the last game that the girls had taken massive confidence from the win at the weekend. I told the young girls to just get the ball and go forward and that is what they did.

Street will now face some serious selection headaches this weekend as he tries to pick 22 players for the final test.

I will go with the strongest side possible. It is going to be a very difficult choice as they are all playing so well. We are used to tournament rugby so I knew 11 changes wasnt a gamble. We do that a lot in the Six Nations and the Nations Cup so the girls are used to it. We are a very fit side and because of that we recovered pretty quickly from Saturday and the girls will be raring to go again this weekend.
