South Africa have again won African 7s for the ninth time. The Boks have won the title in every tournament they have participated in, and for the seventh time beat Kenya in the final. Uganda took third place for the third year in a row.
This may suggest a certain predictability, and the Boks certainly swept through the tournament without conceding a point before the final, but Kenya were pushed hard by both Ghana and Madagascar in the pools, and Uganda, Tunisia and Madagascar were all in the running at some point for the vital third Challenger spot.
The final itself could have gone either way. The scores were tied 5-5 at halftime and a yellow card against Kenya near the end was probably the difference between the teams.
