Post-Match Reaction: Alice Richardson

Richardson has been a key figure in both wins over New Zealand for her side, and she believes that the motivation for England to complete a series white-wash will be huge this weekend, writes Ali Donnelly

Playing at Twickenham I think will nullify the fact that the series is 2-0 at the moment because both teams will desperately want to win there. Maybe a bit of pressure is off us because we have won the series but well be treating it as if its nil nil on Saturday. There is massive motivation for us to try and win not just because of where we are playing but because winning every game would give us a great platform going into next year and on towards the World Cup in 2014.

Richardson has featured at both inside centre and fly-half in this series, turning in two strong performances in both games though she doesnt mind where she is selected this weekend.

In the first test I thought Katy (McLean) did a really good job having to go in at 9 for most of the second half which is something I am glad I didnt have to do thats not easy at this level to switch positions like that. I got to take a bit more control and sometimes thats all you need in a game like that is just to change things up. I dont have a preference between the two positions, to be honest. I like to play a running game so if it is that kind of game and I am at ten then great, but if I am at 12 I also get a bit more ball in hand to move with and take it on, so either or really.

Richardsons excellent break set up Englands first try in the second test but shes quick to praise her team-mates.

I looked up and there was a bit of a mismatch there I so was able to go through and offload to Hannah (Gallagher). It was a team try really with a few very good phases going down the field and we were able to finish it well.

Englands defence put New Zealand under massive pressure in the second half of the second test, with the Black Ferns uncharacteristically making a series of errors in attack.

They did make mistakes but I would like to think that our defence has put them under pressure enough to make them look average at times, Richardson said.

It is a high intensity game with the best two teams in the world so you expect there to be errors because both sides are putting so much pressure on each other in defence. What I can say is that every game is hugely physical. Every time you play New Zealand you feel like youve been hit by a bus and there will be some very sore bodies tomorrow.

Richardson also had a word of praise for her half-back partner Natasha Mo Hunt who had a fine game.

She played very well tonight. She made some good breaks and made sure the game was played t a really high tempo. I was very pleased with the service the backs got.
