Philippines bounce back to top at Asian 7s

Eight teams came together in Kathmandu this weekend to compete for a place in next year’s Asian Sevens Championship.

But in practice there were only two teams in it. Philippines, winners in 2019 but relegated from Championship last year; and India, runners up 2019 - and every Trophy since.

Both comfortably won their pools, India only conceding points to Indonesia and Philippines only allowing Guam to cross their line.

The final was incredibly tight. Philippines scored under the posts near the end of the first half with the try being converted. India scored with three minutes to go… but the kick hit the post and that was the difference, Philippines winning 7-5.
