The one-day tournament will be played at the Estadio Municipal Can Misses, a site normally home to the two football teams of Ibiza Town, based a short distance from the historic Ibiza Town and, set against the backdrop of breath taking Balearic scenery and UNESCO World Heritage site Ibiza Port.
Event organisers, Rugby Spy, have some great deals on accommodation and can offer a 3 star hotel B&B for £15 per person per night for the weekend.
More than 5,000 spectators expected as tournament aims to boost rugby in the Iberian Peninsula. With the Tournament being recognized by FER.
The men’s tournament will host eight teams including one made up of former Premiership and International players who will take part alongside Ibiza Rugby club and six other teams.
There will be a chance to enjoy breakfast whilst watching the British and Irish Lions game against Queensland Reds in the company of some rugby experts and hear their thoughts on the tourists chances against the Wallabies in the Test series.
World Cup winner Phil Vickery and his company Raging Bull, were keen to support this first initiative to bring a full-scale tournament to Ibiza. Vickery said: ““Everyone’s idea of Ibiza is the clubs, the raves, the money, the expense, the glamour and the boats. Let’s go over and show them what our game is about…... having a good time but knowing the limits. We can go over there and break down barriers.”
