German girls win “future Olympians” tournament

On 11th July there were sevens rugby tournament of both male and female young teams in Hungarian town of Esztergom.

The teams in the women’s category were Germany U18, Czech Republic U18 and Hungary U18. None of the teams met before in this age category, so everybody was interested how the teams would play. Each team played each other twice.

The strength of the German women’s rugby was visible - the German girls easily won all the matches but one, when Czechs led them 7-5 in the halftime and let them really sweat. But their best player scored a hat trick in the second half so they won that one as well!

The weakest team were the hosts, which mirrors the ranking of the teams in the adult category. They were able to play one draw with the Czechs, but in the second match of these sides the Czech led 20 : 0 in the half time and let all of the bench on in the match.

It was first international game for lot of girls from all the teams so it was very good experience for all!

The results:

Germany U18 - Czech Republic U18 41 : 0

Germany U18 - Hungary U18 52 : 5

Hungary U18 - Czech Republic U18 12 : 12

Czech Republic U18 - Germany U18 7 : 20

Hungary U18 - Germany U18 0 : 51

Czech Republic U18 - Hungary U18 20 : 12
