‘Frustrated’ Edwards wants to end strongly

After watching his side go down to England, Edwards rued his side’s missed chances this season, which included a last minute loss to Italy and a narrow loss to Ireland.
Wales are winless going into the final round of the 6 Nations and they face bottom side Scotland this weekend with both aiming to avoid the wooden spoon.
“We have not been clinical this year and this year we are struggling to control the game throughout 80 minutes. Against France our defence at times was excellent, we nullified them and dominated at various points of the game but our last ten minutes was just not acceptable. When we switch off, teams are scoring against us. Against England I believed we were in the game at halftime and if we could get into them in the first five minutes we could kick on but we couldn't manage it and when they started scoring it was difficult to stop them.”
“We know that good performances are in us but our second halves have been a bit of a monkey on our backs. It's been frustrating.”
For Edwards, a disappointing 6 Nations won’t define the team in this World Cup season, with Wales planning two or three test games in the summer to prepare fully for Paris.
“Look, we were confident going into the 6 Nations and then we had that wobble against Italy where we simply messed up later in the match. I think we have been in every other match. We know if we can put 80 minutes together this weekend we can get that win we are after.”
Edwards will also focus on the positives from this year so far.
“For me the subunits in the team are going well and we've capped five new players and we have seen them come through really well. This weekend we have a chance to end it positively and whoever wants it most will win.”
