Financial boost for Hong Kong

The Hong Kong women's rugby team have been handed a financial boost with news that HSBC is to sponsor both the men's and women's national teams. The sponsorship extends across the age-grade National Teams and runs for a four-year period.

The Hong Kong Womens Team were bronze medalist in the East Asian Games and was the fourth-placed team in the Asian Games. They play relatively regularly on the Asian scene, and in May were in action in games against Japan and Singapore. They beat Singapore comprehensively but lost to Japan.

Sponsorship of both men's and women's sides at national level is becoming more common with sides like Ireland and England already sharing the benefits of major deals.

This weekend the women's national side are off to Shanghai to take part in the Shanghai Sevens at the Yuanshen Stadium.
