A busy summer for women’s rugby

Remember how once upon a time the women’s international rugby season ended with around of sevens tournaments in June, after which (apart from an occasional summer series in Canada) everything went quiet until October?
That has all changed. International women’s rugby now never stops.
Between now and September there will not be a single weekend where international women’s rugby is not being played somewhere in the world.
As well as eight sevens tournaments, and two U20 series, there will be test matches and test series involving Australia, Canada, China, England, France, India, Japan, New Zealand, Philippines, Scotland, Singapore, Spain, and the United States.
In total that means there will be 29 test matches, five U20 internationals, and nearly 200 sevens internationals between now and the October.
And in October we have the start of the Autumn Internationals, the European Championship, plus several Olympic qualifiers, and the start of the 2019-20 World Series.
