Japan will go into this month's Asian Games in high confidence after they were crowned SCC 7s champions at the weekend. Japan beat the home side, Singapore, in the final to take the title with a 14-0 victory. The competition was part of the many warm-ups events taking place in the region ahead of the major competition in China at the end of November. Indeed it was the second international 7s competition in the space of a week for India and Singapore who both competed in Borneo last week in the Asia Pacific 7s which was won by Kazakhstan. Singapore had earlier beaten Hong Kong 17-12 in the semi-finals while Japan reached the final with a more straight forward 36-0 win over India.Eunice Tay, Captain of the Singapore Women’s team said, “The SCC 7s tournament has been a key part of our preparation and conditioning for the Asian Games and has been our final opportunity to play against some of our biggest competitors. We are confident as a team and hope to make Singapore proud at the Asian Games. At the end of the day, our biggest competitors are ourselves!”
