Germany have a long history of women’s rugby, with a first test match as far back as 1989 – only eight months after England took the field for the first time and a year before New Zealand’s first test. With almost as many women playing the game in 2013 as Scotland and the Netherlands put together, Germany should be one of major powers in Europe, but in recent years success has been hard to come by.
Despite missing out on Six Nations the England have moved into second place in World Rugby’s women’s rankings.

The 2016 Women's Six Nations has built to a terrific climax this year, with the title to be decided by a head-to-head between France and England on Friday evening, to be broadcast live on Sky Sports 3 and on France 4, while on Sunday Italy travel to Aberavon and Scotland to Dublin.
A hat-trick from Alison Miller helped Ireland to a 45-12 win over Scotland at Donnybrook as last year's winners ended the competition this time in third place.
