Caen celebrate a Top 8 win for the first time in over a year.
Lille’s unbeaten record was challenged when they travelled to Paris to take on Bobigny last weekend. At halftime the home team led 10-0, but after the break two penalties from Esteve oulled them back to within a score before, in the 72nd minute, Maria Heitor’s try gave the game to Lille by 13-10.
The Toulouse derby between Stade Toulousian and Blagnac St Orens attracted the TV cameras from Eurosport, with viewers seeing a tight game that went down to the wire, with BSORF eventually winning the game 11-6, which leaves them in second place which Stade lie third. Montpellier also put a strong marker down for the key fourth place with a five-try 27-0 win away at Rennes.
Finally at the bottom the two winless teams, Caen and Romagnat, met. Caen had gone through last season without a win as well, so their 20-15 win was a cause for some celebration. They dominated the first half, but took over half an hour to break down the Romagnat defence, Ophelia Gincourt finally finding a way through. They led 10-3 at halftime. Gincourt’s interception resulted in a second try, this time for Annaëlle Deshayes. Romagnat battled back with a try of their own shortly after, but Caen held on to eventually win 20-15.
