Scots look to get back on track

The starting team shows just one change from the side's last outing against Ireland in March with Michelle Napier in the second row the only new face.

South Africa have also named their starting lineup for the first match.

The two fully capped games will take place at the same venue on consecutive weekends, and the Scots will be captained by Lynne Reid(pictured).

Head coach Gary Parker will be hoping for a win to boost confidence ahead of start of the big event in August after a mixed year so far.

Scotland got off to a great start in this year's 6 Nations with a historic win over France, but a draw against Italy followed by three more losses means his side could do with some victories before the World Cup, where they will face France, Canada, and Sweden.

Following the two games against South Africa, a Scotland travelling squad of 26 will then be named for the World Cup before the side takes on Ireland in a non-cap encounter on Sunday, 18 July also at Lasswade, as final preparation for the World Cup.

Scotland captain, Lynne Reid, said: "We're all eager to get back on the field and compete, building on the positive performances from the Six Nations.

"We're all fully committed to the heavy training schedule in the run up to the World Cup - throughout the last four years that's what we've had in our sights.

"The chance to pitch yourself against the rest of the world is just such a fantastic opportunity."

South Africa have also named their starting lineup with two players Charmaine Kayser (outside centre) and Nolusindiso Booi (lock) making their international debuts.

A third uncapped player, Daphne Scheepers, has been named on the bench.

Head coach Denver Wannies said:

Weve been very hard at work for the World Cup. This is the next step in our preparations and Im confident well achieve our aims in this series against Scotland, said Wannies."
