U18 Six Nations – Day 1

This year’s action will be held in Wales for the first time as Colwyn Bay's Stadiwm CSM hosts three matchdays on 29 March, 2 April and 6 April.

To promote an appropriate and competitive playing environment, teams will each play four 35-minute fixtures across the first two match days followed by one full 70-minute fixture on the final match day.

This format allows each team to play one another, every player to start at least one fixture and each Union to benchmark the progress of their female athletes across the competitive spectrum.

The 70-minute matches on Matchday 3 begin with France and England, before Wales take on Italy. The day concludes with Scotland's clash against Ireland.

Results and latest scores:

RESULT: England 19-12 Ireland

An early try in the second minute for Ellie Wilson, breaking away to score under the posts after an Irish knock-on. Most of the play was at England's end, and after 10m a perfect interception try by Caitriona Finn pulled the scores level, Finn converting her own score. After 16m Alma Atagamen powered through the English defence to put Ireland ahead, 12-7. In the 27th minute England finally broke out of their half, and Molly Bunker set up Sarah Parry for England's second try, converted by Bunker. A rain shower made the ball slippery in the final minutes, with Ireland's Emma Jane Wilson knocking on just short of the line. With the clock in the red Abigail Pritchard completed a flowing England backline move for a third try in the corner.

LATEST: England 12-19 Italy

Italy were straight onto the attack, and in the second minute Alessia Cagnotto scored their first try. The next 10 minutes were even until a kick ahead by England was misjudged by an Italian defender, allowing Solana Shaw de Leon to grab the loose ball an score. But Italy's forwards were dominating the set piece, and after winning one scrum against the head, set up a firm base for a move that saw Vittoria Zeni add a second try in the 18th minute. England struck straight back, some excellent kicks setting up an attack from which Iley Bailey's power allowed her to drive over. However two minutes later England were down to 14 with a yellow given to Wilson. Italy looked certain to score, but knocked on inches from the line. The rain now returned, but Italy continued to drive forward allowing Alice Antonazzo to use her size to power over.
