World Cup Final Reaction

Gary Street:"It has been a massive team effort. The players have been outstanding on the pitch and the team behind the team have been unbelievable. I have never seen anything like it."There are 15 players out there but the planning for four years has been staggering and it is exhausting. I am ready for a week off. I am so proud of the players. I have known them for a long time and I am overjoyed for them."This could be a tipping point for women's rugby and not just at home but everywhere else too I hope. People have seen that 15s is a spectacle. Sevens is great but there is something not quite like a good old fashioned test match between two nations with a full stadium for 80 minutes and this tournament has made people realise that women's 15s is a hell of a game and the standard has been incredible."I am really pleased the world has been able to see the the game at this level is a hell of a sport."Katy Mclean

"It is everything that I have ever dreamed of. You start tournaments like  a World Cup and you dare to hope. They way our luck has gone in World Cups you don't hope too much. This squad of people, staff and management, have been the most special I have ever worked with and today they finally got their reward."You come into a final and expect a real game and all credit to Canada they really showed up and put us under massive pressure.

"Ideally you'd want to be 40 points up at half-time of course! But at 11-9 we fought it out and that is testament to how hard we have worked that when it was that close and when we could have really self combusted that our defence stayed strong."Emily Scarratt was phenomenal today, she kicked her goals under extreme pressure and she goes and scores an amazing try. That is what England rugby is about, we are about a team but you also need standout individuals and that is what she was today.

"20 years is a long time and there has been a lot of hurt and a lot of pain for England at World Cups. It is nice to be able to change that."
