New Zealand secure 5th

New Zealand secured fifth place with a dominant win over USA in an entertaining final outing for both teams.

USA started well and  Lynelle Kugler was over the try line after a great break but she was called back for a forward pass.

It took two huge Meya Bizer tackles to stop New Zealand after two line breaks but after 15 minutes Aroha Savage dotted down thanks to a break from Amiria Rule.  New Zealand scored a second through impressive lock Rawinia Everitt after more good work from Savage and though USA were hitting hard, in attack they struggled to finish off.

NZ then started to push on with a lovely try forom Shakira Baker and then Selicia Winiata was over after a break from Victoria Subritzky-Nafatali and as the game crept past the half hour mark they led 24-0.

Honey Hireme tries either side of halftime meant the lead was unassailable for USA but they did grab one back through a Kimber Rozier intercept which she finished well.

Hireme grabbed a hat trick on the hour mark before Aleisha Nelson came off the bench to crash over, Hireme had a hat trick shortly after to wrap up a fine win.

The end of the game marked the end of numerous international careers including USA prop Jamie Burke who played her 50th and final game while also retiring is New Zealand centre Amiria Rule after 14 seasons as a Black Fern.
