England have made 11 changes for the game, with a short turnaround coupled with injury and unavailabilty forcing Gary Street's hand.

Lydia Thompson and Abi Chamberlain come into the squad, having not been involved last weekend, to start, whileEngland captain Katy McLean will continue at fly-half.

In the forwards, Bristol's Sophie Hemming stays at tight-head prop with Darlington Mowden Park Sharks lock Tamara Taylor in the second row.

Bristol full-back Kay Wilson is unavailable for selection after suffering a dead-leg on Saturday, while Richmond wing Claire Allan is ruled out due to work commitments. Maggie Alphonsi, who played the full 80 minute on Saturday in her first appearance for England in 20 months,  is named as a replacement.

“We must put in an 80-minute performance as that is not something we did on Saturday," Street said.

"We have freshened up our line-up with some experienced players who were on the bench at the weekend," said Street.

"Against France we executed our gameplan well, and we took our opportunities.

"We played with intent and put on the kind of game we wanted to in front of a big crowd at Twickenham, and we want to do more of the same on Wednesday."

Canadago into the game on the back of two games last week against France, where they won one and lost one.

Canada will have the confidence of beating England for the first time in over 20 years at this summer’s Nations Cup, but the team they will face in London this week will be vastly different.

Head coach Francois Ratier has selected 10 of the same starting 15 who beat France last week but he has omitted Ghislaine Landry, who was one of the standout players at this summer’s Rugby World Cup Sevens.“We are seeing England more than we ever have in competition,” said team captain Kelly Russell. “With the Sevens World Series and regular Nations Cup competitions, we are able to get in some very challenging and physically tough matches between us.
