The Canada women's rugby 7s squad won the USA Women's International Invitational 7s at the weekend- defeating the Netherlands 17-12.
Quebec's Magali Harvey scored a crucial try to break a 12-12 tie and give Canada the title.
Ghislaine Landry of Montreal and Vancouver's Mandy Marchak also scored tries for Canada in the victory, that saw the women play in front of 25,000 at Sam Boyd Stadium
The tournament featured women's five nations who competed at the last Rugby World Cup Sevens in 2009 - eventual winners Canada as well as hosts USA, Spain, France and runners-up, the Netherlands.
"I'm extremely proud of them, we came together four days ago and pulled this off, which is really nice," said Canada captain, Mandy Marchak.
Netherlands coach, Gareth Gilbert said: "I'm so proud, I think the effort they've put in has been phenomenal and it was a good final against Canada."
"We've started a Sevens project where we're aiming for the the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. Fortunately we've got a lot of support from companies who are supporting us financially, and also from the Olympic Committee and our union.
"Women's rugby is basically now priority number one. We have 17 girls - 12 elite and five development - working three or four times a week at the moment and in September hopefully going full time."
In the semi finals on day one Netherlands beat France 17-7 and Canada overcame Spain 10-0.
