South Africa

Relative newcomers to the international game, South Africa played their first test game in 2004. They have since competed in two World Cups – in 2006 and 2010 – and often appear at the Nations Cups. To qualify for the 2014 World Cup South Africa will be part of a qualification tournament for the first time with the burgeoning Elgon Cup in 2013, involving Kenya and Uganda, used to determine their play-off opponent. South Africa are also active in the Sevens game and competed at the 2009 Sevens World Cup.
